Trying this HYROX thing…..
What is HYROX????
HYROX is a fitness competition that mixes running with strength exercises. Participants race through a course with eight workout stations, switching between running and exercises like rowing, ski erg, burpees, and kettlebell swings. The aim is to finish the whole course as quickly as possible, testing both endurance and strength.
HYROX events follow a standard format so athletes of various levels can join. There are individual and team races, along with age group divisions, catering to everyone from beginners to advanced athletes. The competition focuses on functional fitness, which helps with everyday activities.
Beyond competition, HYROX creates a community of fitness lovers dedicated to health and wellness. Many train specifically for the event, making it a motivating experience for those looking to boost their fitness.
One of my December Highs will definitely be participating in an all womens Hyrox sim at Arsenal Health and Fitness. It was especially fun because I got to do the whole mother/daughter team thing which you all know that anytime I get to do anything with one of my kids its my favorite. Olivia is super motivating and supportive so it’s always fun for me to try something new with her. Not gonna lie, the run portions were very hard for me….mostly just because I havent been running. The running is a huge part of the Hyrox competition so if I were ever to compete in a real one I would definitely want to work on that. I approached this as a fun event….and it was all that and more. An extra bonus was that a lot of our YARD GYM peeps were also there doing it, so community wise this got a huge thumbs up from me!
