There are three main components in this journey to a healthier and happier self. Moving, fueling, and healing.
move
We have one body and we rely on it to get us through this life. We know that movement of any kind is a key to longevity physically, but it also plays a very important role in our mental health. A ten minute walk outside can change the whole course of your day. Many people don’t know where to begin to add movement back into their lives and based on your specific goals, that can look very different from one person to the next. Whether it’s walking, running, yoga, strength training, you name it, incorporating movement into your lifestyle will improve overall health, and help catapult you toward your goals.
fuel
Think of your body like an engine. If you put low quality fuel or not enough fuel in it, it is unlikely to run well or last long, and eventually will break down. Filled with the proper fuel the engine can do its job efficiently, effectively, and with ease. When we choose healthy whole foods to fuel our bodies, balanced macronutrients and adequate micronutrients, we can expect to feel full and sustained. Our bodies feel energetic and strong when fueled properly. If the goal is to gain or lose weight it’s nearly impossible to achieve that without knowing what your body actually requires. Although there is some trial and error, a lot of the guesswork can be taken out of the equation through some proper planning and knowledge.
heal
Everyone has a story, experiences, history of some sort that has impacted their quality of life. Not only the obvious disease and medical issues that can cause major impairments, but things we experience in normal healthy living like pregnancy, food sensitivities, job and family related stress, financial strain. We need to heal from all the things that stand in our way of being our best selves. Often just awareness and action to control the amount of energy we give to the things weighing us down can help move us toward a healthier lifestyle.
