Imposter syndrome….

Let’s talk about something that I think affects so many people I know…..myself included. Have you ever caught yourself questioning your achievements? Doubting your own accomplishments or authenticity. Questioned whether or not your message or work is valid….. downplaying yourself? I have ….. and we call it imposter syndrome- and unfortunately it is very really.

What is Imposter syndrome????

Imposter syndrome is a psychological pattern where people doubt their accomplishments and fear being exposed as a "fraud," despite evidence of their competence. People experiencing imposter syndrome often feel that they do not deserve their success and attribute it to luck, timing, or the perception that others have placed too much trust in them.
This phenomenon can affect anyone, regardless of their social status, work background, or level of expertise. It is particularly common among high-achieving individuals who, despite their achievements, struggle with feelings of inadequacy. Symptoms can include persistent self-doubt, anxiety, and a tendency to downplay one's expertise or contributions.
Imposter syndrome can lead to stress and decreased confidence, impacting personal and professional growth. Addressing these feelings often involves recognizing and reframing negative thoughts, seeking support, and acknowledging achievements rather than attributing them to external factors. Understanding that such feelings are common can help individuals combat imposter syndrome and foster a healthier self-perception.
